Welcome! Your painless spring cleaning starts NOW.
The very first 15 minute blitz is a CLOSET PURGE. This is not intended to be the only closet purge you will do this season, but this is a “pick the low hanging fruit” and target the things that really NEED TO GO. This is the pair of jeans that you wore 20 years ago and plan to lose down to this year FOR SURE. Or the really out of date shirt/sweater/whatever that you liked a lot when you first bought it. Or the sweater that you loved but is very pilled or stretched out or basically unwearable for some reason.
If you are what I like to call a “primary purger,” meaning that your stuff has an emotional hold on you, then think of it like this: let’s archive these things, removing them from your closet but storing them somewhere else, like the attic, garage, or storage space. The blitz today is to free up some closet space so that you can 1) see what you have, 2) be able to get to it, and 3) be able to organize it later in our process.
So ask yourself these questions:
Have I worn this in the last year? Yes, keep. No, set aside.
If I haven’t worn in it in the last year, is it because of Covid? Yes, keep. No, put in the donate pile or archive.
Is the condition of this piece of clothing good or excellent? Yes, keep. No, donate.
Is this the current size I wear? Yes, keep. No, donate.
You need to make it your goal to pare down your wardrobe by 20% today.
You can do this!!!
Beautiful, creative, organized, people-lover – I am two or three of those things every day. I am also the wife of an amazing husband, the mother of three adult children I am very proud of, and would love to have a Corgi one day. I love to help people by bringing order to chaos, show hospitality through food and planning events, and I’m learning calligraphy and hand lettering. Other favorites include cheesy cheese pizza, re-purposing home decor, using the crevice tool on my vacuum cleaner, and talking to people wherever I go.
