For years I dreaded spring claning and even mostly skipped any special cleaning under the guise of being too busy/I have small kids/I don’t have time. However, I am a huge believer in “a clean home is a peaceful home,” so I will be starting a series about PAINLESS spring cleaning! It’s 15 min a day for 5 days a week and then two weekend projects taking less than two hours each. Get a family member to join you (a.k.a. let the kids help with the 15 minute blitz)) and it takes even less effort from you!
The secret behind the painless spring cleaning the 15 minute blitz. Everyone has 15 minutes in their day that they can carve out for spring cleaning. After spring cleaning, you may see that taking a devoted fifteen minutes is a great way to get things done. Set a timer for 15 minutes and don’t do anything but the task at hand. Refuse to get distracted and remind yourself it’s only 15 minutes!
So today’s blitz is to take inventory of what you have to clean with — you’ll need:
- multipurpose cleaner, (I heartily recommend this one)
- trash bags,
- containers for your junk drawer (I buy these at Dollar Tree),
- 1 cup white vinegar,
- a toothbrush you can clean with,
- paper towels or reusable cloths
- and a bucket or any container big enough to put about half a gallon of water in.
Once you have your supplies, you’ll be ready to start! Check back on Monday, January 4 to get started with your first blitz!
Beautiful, creative, organized, people-lover – I am two or three of those things every day. I am also the wife of an amazing husband, the mother of three adult children I am very proud of, and would love to have a Corgi one day. I love to help people by bringing order to chaos, show hospitality through food and planning events, and I’m learning calligraphy and hand lettering. Other favorites include cheesy cheese pizza, re-purposing home decor, using the crevice tool on my vacuum cleaner, and talking to people wherever I go.
